Negotiating housework can be a major source of contention for many couples, but there are strategies that couples can use to manage work in a constructive way. Research consistently shows that women still bear a disproportionate share of household responsibilities, while men tend to engage in more leisure time. But this isn’t about competing to prove who works harder. Instead, research shows that when both partners are satisfied with the division of household labor, relationship satisfaction improves. This balance not only improves relationship and individual well-being but also enhances sexual satisfaction for both partners, creating a win-win situation.
